A couple of days ago (tuesday) there was a dust storm. I went outside to drive what is perhaps six blocks to the library. The night time sky had a weird reddish glow, odder than the usual bizarre color the Phoenix night sky is due to light "pollution". There was a hot dry breeze and everything was blowing around, more than is usual for this area. It rather looked as though there was a semi dense fog, however it wasn't fog, it was dust. It blew in my eyes. Now, on the Kansas driving test, there is a question that reads (aproxtimately):
When driving in the fog it is appropriate to:
a) turn off your headlights.
b) leave on your normal/low beams
c) turn on your high beams.
The correct answer is, of course, b. If you turn on the high beams, they reflect back and blind you. Nonetheless one in five drivers on the road had on their high beams. And I know there is a similar question, specifically relating to dust storms on the Arizona driver's test. Idiots! I don't like dust storms, they're weird. I prefer Kansas weather, it's unpredictable and much more dangerous, but it is familiar. And the winds, that I had heard touted as being so bad, weren't that bad by Kansas or Oklahoma standards. Arizonans are wimps about wind and rain and cold.
Bugs have been invading my apartment. I am not pleased. There was the world's largest, most evil cockroach in my shoes. Steven killed it. The sprayer is coming on Wednesday. I am a wimp about bugs.
It was 119 degrees yesterday, it was horrible. Arizonans are not wimps about heat.
Today was overcast, it was nice. Miss Kim couldn't be at DUCK and that is usually very stressful and chaotic, but it was an absolutely great day. The kids were wonderful. The staff is wimpy about Miss Kim being gone.
